Secure Internet Single Sign-On
Secure Internet SSO utilizes standards to provide users safe access to applications across the Internet without the need to re-login. It allows organizations to share credentials and attributes for authentication and authorization, reducing the need to maintain user profiles in multiple systems. Secure Internet SSO also reduces security gaps by using a trusted connection between the enterprise, also known as the identity provider (IdP), and the service provider.
With secure Internet SSO, once a user has logged into the organization’s network, they can directly access applications at outsourced services, trading partners and affiliates over the Internet. Hidden from the user, their organization validates the user and assembles an authentication token. The external service provider receives the token and allows the user to access their resources and pertinent information over the Internet without different usernames and passwords.
